Is a small, hard bump around a phlebectomy scar normal?

I had ambulatory phlebectomy 7 weeks ago to remove some veins under my foot. I have a small pea-sized hard lump under one scar. It doesn't seem to hurt. Is this something to be concerned about? I will have a follow-up with my doctor next month.

This is very typical. The lump is not significant and not dangerous. Local massage can break up the scar.

These "lumps and bumps" are very common post microphlebectomy and are due to trapped blood under the skin. Wet heat to the areas and time will resolve them. Sometimes, I pop them with a needle if uncomfortable.

I am a little surprised that a physician took veins out from the bottom of your foot; that can be very risky, especially when it comes to nerve damage. Usually, those veins have sources that are found higher in the legs that can be treated instead of treating veins in the foot.

Don't be concerned. It is probably a small residual piece of vein. Your doctor can check it next month.

Simply have your doctor check it to distinguish a healing scar from trapped blood.

I experienced severe bruising and intense pain 8 days after ambulatory phlebectomy and EVLT. I could not even touch the area from my right groin all the way down to my knee. I followed all of the doctor's orders given post-op. Upon a recheck yesterday, no infection was found, but during the ultrasound the pain upon the docs pressing the area was excruciating and I felt a burning sensation go all the way up leg. What's going on? Could I have a hematoma?
