I would like to know if this bioflavonoid would help my varicose veins. I had profuse bleeding a few months ago from a vein in the ankle and as rutin acts as a blood thinner, I was wondering whether taking this supplement would be advisable.
No, rutin is not useful.

That right Rutin has multiple effects on the vascular system, and my advice is to not use it.

You need a venous ultrasound and sclerothrapy, not rutin.

There are many supplements that are purported to help with varicose veins but, if you do have varicose veins, then you should see a veins specialist for a full venous evaluation and treat the source of the veins. There is no scientific evidence that vein supplements will help with varicose veins.

Rutin and other bioflavonoids can help relieve symptoms of venous insufficiency, and data shows that they maintain vein valve function and health. I recommend bioflavonoids to all of my patients with venous insufficiency and varicose veins.

Rutin won't cure a vein problem. It can, however, help with pain and swelling. It might make you bleed easier, too. Getting your leg checked with ultrasound and then treated would be the best option.
