The veins in my hands and calf protrude and become very large, especially when it's hot. Why? What can I do about it?
I am a female in my mid-twenties. I do not work out. When I feel hot, my veins protrude and become very large. It feels uncomfortable to use my hands, and I constantly have my arms raised or hiding my hands. I also have one vein in my calf that does the same. My mother was the same, only hers were much worse. I'm worried I will be the same. I have never seen veins like this and I'm worried I will live this way forever. Why is this happening? Is this hereditary? What can I do about it?

My doctor was blasé about it. My veins are bulging a shocking amount. I rarely see anyone with more prominent veins than me. I'm very embarrassed and feel ugly and uncomfortable.
