Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot (thrombus) that forms in a deep vein—usually in the legs, thighs, pelvis, or sometimes the arms.

You can lower your risk of developing DVT by:

Exercising regularly
Maintaining a healthy weight
Quitting smoking
Avoiding long periods of sitting and moving every 2-3 hours
