General Questions

The deep, blue veins in my shoulders, arms, chest, and legs are very visible. Should I be concerned?
General -1 answer
I don't think this is a new symptom, as I have never really paid attention to it before. I have always had remarks of "Oh I love this type of vein" when getting blood drawn, but recently I have noticed how visible and how deep blue my veins really are. I have no other symptoms such as pain or bruising, and they aren't the small "spider" veins. They are generally flat and only seem to become raised when exercising.

Are women necessarily more affected by varicose veins than men?
General -1 answer
I got a varicose vein at 18. I worry my daughter will have much stronger varicose veins because of hormones, less muscle, pregnancy, etc. However, I have just read that men are equally affected but are less likely to go to the doctor.

Would knee injections (Euflexxa) cause problems if I also have varicose veins?
General -1 answer
I have varicose veins and knee arthritis in my left leg. I ruled out having a knee replacement, as I am 86 and refuse to opt for possible blood clots. I had the endovenous ablation on both legs a year ago and get ultrasounds on both legs every 6 months for precautionary reasons.

Should I be worried that my 8-year-old daughter has visible, prominent green veins throughout her body?
General -1 answer
My 8-year-old daughter has visible, prominent green veins in her hands, legs, upper chest, and sides of stomach. She is healthy and has no associated problems. The pediatrician said they look normal when he saw her three months back, but the prominence has increased and we are worried. She has no pain, just veins that can be seen clearly through the skin. Is this normal? Will they get normal once she gets older? She was born preterm and had IV fluids/medications given. Is that the reason?

Why do I have a dull, heavy, aching feeling when I wear compression socks? How can this be fixed?
General -1 answer
I have worn 20-30 mmHg compression socks. My left leg has a dull, heavy, aching feeling when I wear the socks. My right leg is fine. I recently went down to 15-20 mmHg but the same thing is happening. Why is this happening and how can I fix it? I wear them for preventative measures as I sit at a computer for 40 hrs a week.

I developed really visible veins on both my forefeet. When I walk they disappear but when I stand they are huge and bulking. Where is the problem?
General -2 answers
Vein doctor said there was no reflux and there was nothing to operate. Rheumatologist said I had no rheumatic problem. Plus, when I stand, the skin on my feet turns red and is itching and burning to the point I cant stand it. Compression stockings help but I feel I am too young (33) to wear them for the rest of my life.

Can lack of excercise alone cause CVI?
General -1 answer
I was diagnosed with CVI a year ago. I’m 52, had 5 pregnancies, varicose veins on feet/ankles, sitting job for 13 years and am in menopause just now. I’ve exercised off and on. My grandma and aunt had DVTs. My mom had varicose veins. No one I know of has CVI. I’m afraid this is due to being too sedentary. I wear compression stockings now, pain and swelling almost unbearable. I’ve been seen by 2 phlebologists and they won’t help me. Standing ultrasound shows no reflux or superficial veins.

Why do the veins of my arms appear like small bumps?
General -1 answer
The veins of left arm appears to be normal but recently on my right arm when I lower my hand the vein pops out abnormally. The veins look weird, like pimples, but bigger. I don't feel any pain but they are freaking me out because they look bizarre.

I have extreme tightness and pain in both feet. On the top of right foot it feels like the muscle tightens up and it's painful when I try to stand. It feels like a Charlie horse. It takes a few minutes for the pain to go away and where I can flatten my foot upon standing up. What is this pain I'm having? Why?

I have pain in multiple veins. One day it could be in my hand the next in my leg. What should I do?
General -1 answer
I have pain in several of my veins. One day it could be in my hand and the next in my leg. This has been going on for a long time. I take pain killers to reduce the pain, but am seeking a better solution. What could be the cause of this type of vein pain, and what are my treatment options? It should be noted that I also experience a rapidly beating heart at times.

Should I take aspirin or blood thinner for a 15 hour flight?
General -1 answer
I have a 15-hour flight in Nov - in a first class seat, luckily. I have CVI with superficial and slight deep vein reflux. I wear 30-40 thigh compression stocking daily. I've never had a procedure done, never had DVT. I know walking, twisting ankles, elevation and drinking plenty of water with stockings can help. But should I take blood thinner to prevent DVT for such a long flight? I am scared.

I have a varicose vein on my left leg. Is it OK to continue moderate running and weight training which I currently enjoy on a daily basis?
General -3 answers
I had a varicose vein removed (sclerotherapy) from my right leg 9 years ago, and would like this new vein to be treated as well. I am concerned that new varicose veins will keep developing over the years and what might be happening to the veins deep in my legs. At 41 years old, do I really need to stop or drastically reduce my normal fitness routine?
