Can spider and varicose veins be treated at the same time?

Spider and varicose veins can be treated at the same time, but I do not routinely do this. If I do a closure procedure and microphlebectomies for the varicose veins, I like to wait at least 2 to 3 weeks for healing to occur so that I can treat the spiders more thoroughly and visualize them better rather than have them obscured by the tumescent anesthesia.

Varicose veins are larger than spider veins. I commonly treat the larger veins first because the smaller spider veins frequently become less visible after stab phlebectomy. Also, most insurance carriers consider spider vein treatment cosmetic and are not covered.
