I had the endovenous laser ablation procedure 10 days ago. Last night I got a stabbing pain and it felt like my skin tore from the inside. I thought after a night of sleep the pain would go away, but it hasn't. Is this something to be concerned about?
Did you have a follow-up appointment with your physician? It is very important to have these follow up appointments to determine if the treatment was successful. Some people can experience pain for up to a few months, but a follow-up is always recommended.

We do not use laser in our practice. Severe pain should be evaluated by the physician that did the laser
treatment. Having some discomfort is normal, but it should not be severe.

Yes, this seems unusual. You should probably be rechecked by your doctor.

Obviously, you should contact your doctor. It is unusual to have such severe pain that far post-procedure. An exam and ultrasound are indicated. Try compression with a stocking and ace wrap until seen, which should be in 1 day.

Doesn't sound unusual but you should contact your treating MD's office.

It is unusual to experience such discomfort after laser ablation. You should see your treating physician to rule out any underlying problem. We typically have our patients on an anti-inflammatory medication for 8 days and have them use cold packs for the first couple of days. Doing this, they tend to have very few problems. It isn't unusual to get a slight increase in discomfort about 10-14 days out. The thought is that the deeper tissue swelling is resolving and the small nerve endings are "waking up." This usually goes away quickly (either alone or with the help of Advil or Tylenol). I recommend you see your doctor.

This is not the usual course post-endovenous laser ablation. See your treating MD.

Your symptoms are quite unusual. Consult with your surgeon and have an ultrasound.

The pain you are describing is much more than is normally reported. I would recommend you call and follow up with your surgeon.

This is not uncommon, but I'd recommend calling the physician who treated you.

Severe pain after EVLT is not normal, especially 10 days out. Contact your vein doctor immediately.

Your best option is to have the treated leg checked with an ultrasound as soon as possible.

It is impossible to make an exact diagnosis without seeing you. However, it is not uncommon to have discomfort along the areas where the vein was lasered. This is usually along the inner side of the leg, especially in the thigh. Pain can also occur along the middle posterior portion of the calf. Often, discomfort arises days after the procedure because by this time the tumescent anesthesia has worn off. I have seen patients have discomfort more than a week later, as may be your case. Most likely your symptoms are a normal variation, but I would recommend that you follow up with your treating physician.
