I've been diagnosed with moderate venous insufficiency, when should I get endovenous laser treatment??

I was diagnosed with moderate venous insufficiency a couple of years ago. I'm a 55-year-old woman who's obese. I take perindopril (Coversyl) for hypertension. In 2018, my doctor performed ultrasound venous doppler of my veins, and it showed incompetence in the saphenous vein. This year (2019), I had another Doppler exam and it shows the same results. I needed the exam because I feel more bothersome aching in my left leg. When should I get ELA? Thanks in advance.

EVLT is performed when you have superficial venous reflux and symptoms are not controlled with compression.

If you have junctional reflux that meets the criteria for ablation, you should consider having the procedure done. In addition, you should be using compression stockings and be on a weight management program. Obesity is one of the contributing factors in CVI.

There is a strong correlation between venous insufficiency and obesity. I would recommend losing weight before you have a closure procedure. Weight loss alone may improve your leg symptoms.
