After VenaSeal, I have pain and bruising running from my knee up to my inner thigh. What should I do?
I had the VenaSeal procedure on my saphenous vein. I have pain but my doctor won't address it. Now, at 2 weeks, I have bruising running from my knee up to my inner thigh. What should I do?

You probably have phlebitis of the treated vein. Try warm compress, anti-inflammatory meds and a repeat duplex of the vein.

VenaSeal causes an inflammatory reaction along the course of the treated vein, and this results in bruising and pain. This can occur with any closure procedure. Anti-inflammatory meds such as ibuprofen and local care with wet heat would help. It may take several weeks to resolve. Follow up with your treating physician.

I am a complicated 60-year-old kidney transplant patient who, despite this, actively runs and speed walks 2-3 miles 4-5 times a week. Should I be concerned about DVT's and further clots, as well as infection. VenaSeal has been recommended by my physician. What puts me at a greater risk, the varicosity or the VenaSeal procedure?
