After the procedure, will the vein return to normal or is the vein damaged? Will post-thrombotic syndrome still occur in that leg? (edema, stasis, more clots?)
It depends on what procedure you are talking about. After ablation, the vein is purposefully damaged in order for it to obliterate. After a deep vein stent placement, the vein can also be damaged and increase the risk for thrombosis. Edema should improve after both these procedures, but chronic venous insufficiency can progress over time and should be evaluated regularly.

What procedure are you talking about? If you mean endovenous ablation, then the object is to occlude the vein so it will never have flow in it again.
