It is possible you had areas of trapped blood which can happen when larger veins are treated. We typically have patients watch for these or check for them at a follow up appointment. It is easily drained and prevents the pigmentation changes you are seeing. It can also occur if a shallow saphenous vein is ablated. I would have them check with ultrasound or transillumination and see if they can release any accumulation. However, at this stage they may not be able to. You can also try Dermaka cream mixed with a few drops of licorice root extract (not licorice extract which smells like anise).

Skin pigmentation can occur after sclerotherapy. It is more likely if there is a large thrombosed vein under the skin. Tanning or sun bathing after sclerotherapy can cause hyperpigmentation of the treated area. The skin changes can fade with time (months to years) but may never completely resolve.

This can be one of the complications of sclerotherapy. The veins injected become inflamed and thrombose (clot) in the early phase after injection. In about 10% of patients this may lead to skin discoloration. Most of the time the discoloration fades but can take 6-12 months to slowly fade. In some, the discoloration is permanent.

This is an accepted side effect of the procedure and may take a long time for it to disappear.
