I have pelvic congestion syndrome, what are my treatment options?

I had an ablation in May of 2014, but I have been dealing with lower right stomach pain since May of this year. A CT scan was performed and it shows I have pelvic congestion. I can't stand up straight. I'm really depressed. At this point I just lay in bed and apply a heating pad. When I try to get up and walk, pain comes and it feels like a contraction. What are my treatment options? Do I need surgery, or is there a less invasive procedure that can be done?

What kind of ablation did you have? Some women who have uterine ablation procedures can also have pelvic pain that is completely unrelated to pelvic congestion syndrome. If your pain is actually due to PCS, sometimes treatment in and around the vulvar area can help to diminish groin pain. Obviously, if your discomfort is due to a complication originating from a uterine ablation, then a hysterectomy may be the better option.

There are several options to treat pelvic congestion. Some are minimally invasive using needles and catheters, while others are more invasive. You should discuss with a vein specialist, interventional radiologist or gynecologic surgeon what option is best for you.

See your vascular specialist; there are minimally invasive options. You should also see your medical md as well to have him or her do further testing and explore other possible reasons for your condition. Your symptoms do not sound like pelvic congestion syndrome. These symptoms would generally abate at rest or with leg or pelvic elevation.
