After surgery I was given compression stockings. They are nw very bloody. How do I take them off without risking bleeding?

I had surgery on Friday and was kept overnight as it was bleeding. Yesterday they removed dressings and replaced with compression stockings.

You should have received a pair of compression hose. We have our patients take off the dirty stocking and put on the clean one. That gives them the time to wash and dry the dirty stocking. We have our patients wear thigh high compression hose for 2 weeks after a procedure so they really need a second stocking.

Read the washing instructions that came with the compression hose. If you only received one stocking I would discuss this with your surgeon - you might need to purchase a second one.

It depends on what kind of surgery you had and the instructions a surgeon gave you. I would call the surgeon and asked for clarification.

My vascular surgeon did an ultrasound and prescribed endovenous laser ablation. She also suggested that I wear compression stockings after the procedure. However, due to severe psoriasis and eczema on my feet, I cannot wear full-coverage stockings that cover them. They must always be in wet dressings, but cannot be fully covered. Would footless compression stockings be just as effective as full-coverage hose following the procedure?
