Sometimes unfortunately patients experience these kind of after effects. You are going back to the doctor for follow up which is important and doing compression is also necessary for proper healing of the leg.

You say you have had EVLT from March to May but without knowing what veins were treated, how many treatments you had etc. Everything you mention is highly unusual and perhaps you might seek a second opinion from a board certified vascular trained surgeon who specializes in treating varicose veins. There should not be scarring you describe - some people develop hyperpigmentation (brownish staining) over veins treated if they are superficial.

Chronic superficial vein thrombophlebitis from an ablated vein near the skin can cause ongoing inflammation and pain along with hemosiderin deposition and discoloration of the skin. Tributary veins of the great saphenous near the knee can also cause similar pain. I recommend the use of an anti inflammatory pack as well as topical creams like Sclerovase to reduce the hyperpigmentation.
