One of the consequences of ablation of leg veins is neo-vascularization (formation of new veins). Nonetheless, a duplex ultrasound has to be performed to rule out varicose veins resulting from perforators. etc. This is also done to ensure there is good closure of the treated veins. As I am sure you know, chronic venous insufficiency is an ongoing problem and as such warrants continued oversight. Your history does not state if you wear compression stockings, but I would recommend the continued use of stockings if so.

If you have recurrence of varicose veins following an ablation then you should have the veins re evaluated with a venous duplex ultrasound. Recurrence of varicose veins following an ablation is usually due to either a new refluxing valve or a continued refluxing valve from the original procedure. Treating these new veins will not cause any increased pressure on other veins or further vein formation. If you don't treat these veins then you will get more veins formed. See a vein specialist.
