We typically recommend a thorough cleaning of the band with rubbing alcohol. Also, prior to fitting our patients, we look at the body shape. Some upper thigh areas are difficult to fit and can cause rolling. We usually recommend a panty hose style in these cases. Not ideal but it works. Also different bands can help. A flat wide silicone band has better grip (Sigvaris) and wearing the hose lower down on the thigh too.

I don't prescribe thigh high for that reason. Primarily use knee high stockings which is all most patients need. If you're having swelling of the thighs then use whatever works, but you just have to deal with headaches of thigh highs.

Keeping up thigh high stocking are always a patient complaint. Try applying an ace bandage over the top of the stocking at the thigh level. If this doesn't work, see if you can use just a knee high.

Try wearing biker shorts over the top of them. This sometimes holds them up a bit better.
