Are there any exercises to reduce skin ulcers?
Varicose Vein Treatment - 1 week ago1 answer
I had a vein removed in 2007 in my left leg. Now ulcers form all over the ankle and sides and it itches. When I scratch, liquid oozes out. I was told that after surgery, alternate channels will be created and blood supply will get normal. Are there any exercises that facilitate creating the channels. What can I do to reduce ulcers?

Can varicosities be treated in deep veins if someone already has a DVT?
Varicose Vein Treatment - 2 weeks ago1 answer
My father has varicose veins in both legs. The right leg has been operated on twice by laser ablation and it's completely fine, but the other left leg has been operated on once and after a few months he had a DVT in that left leg. The DVT for that leg has been treated and varicose vein treatment is to be done on that same leg. My father isn't getting a satisfying result from anywhere.

Do I need antibiotics for swelling and tenderness after a recent vein procedure?
Varicose Vein Treatment - 3 weeks ago1 answer
I had varicose vein procedures in both legs recently. The left leg developed swelling and tenderness nine days after. I called my doctor's office on Saturday and they said to go to the ER. The ER doctor said it was a skin and underlying tissue infection and prescribed antibiotics. They said to see my regular vein physician as soon as possible. My vein physician said this was a normal reaction and told me to stop the antibiotics and that the swelling would go away in about three months.

External banding valvuloplasty for incompetence of the GSV vs stripping or ablation? Pros and cons? Finding an experienced physician?
Varicose Vein Treatment - 1 month ago1 answer
I'm a 40 year old male teacher. I was recently diagnosed with venous insufficiency and varicose veins. My duplex ultrasound only showed a little reflux at the SFJ in the left leg when bearing down, but the test was performed in a position where I was lying down, only slightly inclined (20-30 degrees above horizontal). I have read studies on external banding valvuloplasty describing good outcomes, but cannot find anyone who performs or can answer questions on the procedure.

Is treating a varicose vein with heat detrimental?
Varicose Vein Treatment - 2 months ago1 answer
I was just diagnosed with a varicose vein in my lower leg. Prior to diagnosis I was treating the area with a warm compress because it eased the pain. My doctor examined and diagnosed and gave me tons of tips for taking care of it, but I forgot to ask if the heat treatment is why it appears bruise-like in appearance. It's a bit red at the sight of the vein. How long before this should improve?

Why do I have severe bulging veins in both feet and ankles five months after vein treatment?
Varicose Vein Treatment - 4 months ago4 answers
In May 2016 I had my right great saphenous Vein ablated. In January 2017 I had a few varicose veins removed with stab phlebectomy. Around November 2016 I noticed sudden bulging of veins in my feet and ankles. I've never had these in my feet. I'm not sure what would have caused this sudden and drastic development. They are very large, noticeable, and uncomfortable/slightly painful at times. I'm active & thin. Any advice or thoughts? Thank you!

My doctor recommended radiofeqency ablation and foam sclerotherapy on my leg. What are the risks involved with these procedures?
Varicose Vein Treatment - 5 months ago2 answers
I obtained a detailed ultrasound of my leg. I have a few varicose veins. One of the veins is the great saphenous vein. The other vein is located in my knee. I have worn compression stockings for at least two and a half years now. I notice I'll have a few good days with hardly any pain but then I'll have days with constant aches. Two separate doctors have recommended treatment but I'm scared of the negative consequences of treatment. However, I'm only 30 and would like to live a quality life.
