Are compression stockings safe for use without a prescription?
Compression Stockings - 2 weeks ago2 answers
For someone with varicose veins in the feet (red spots under the skin, not sure if it's a complication of varicose veins) is it safe to use compression stockings with low pressure without a prescription? Or could it do harm, knowing that she didn't get diagnosis of varicose veins or anything?

Is it OK to wear a compression sleeve around a pretty big bruise on my arm (elbow area)?
Compression Stockings - 1 month ago1 answer
I donated plasma on Tuesday, and the nurse jammed me pretty good. Afterwards, it was swollen and sort of bruised. In the days since, the swelling has gone was down. I've seen two doctors, both said it's not infected, just bruised. The past 3 days the bruise has gotten almost 3 times the size and the pain has gone down. I'm just curious if wearing the compression sleeve will be harmful to my bruise. It's pretty tight around the area. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

While wearing stockings a pain occurred behind knee. I checked for rolling & bunching but there was nothing.
Compression Stockings - 1 month ago1 answer
I didn't get to really pull them down, but even after taking them I had pain behind and in the knee cap, pain and redness, swelling to my toes, and now swelling from toes to hip. I have afib and the reason I wear these is because of swelling which I was also prescribed water pills and that worked beautifully. My cardiologist wouldn't rewrite my prescription because my MD wrote the original, even though it works. The swelling and pain is scaring me, please advise.

Should I continue to wear thigh high compression stockings on flights over 3 hrs? I've had 2 DVT's in one leg, a superficial clot and PE.
Compression Stockings - 2 months ago3 answers
One clot was surgically removed, and didn't have problems for 23 years until I had ACL surgery. I now take 11mg Coumadin a day, for life. I also now live in Asia, and every hematologist I've talked to, doesn't agree about wearing them. I can't even get a prescription for them here, much less find any. Our flights are usually about 19-26 hours, total travel time.

My legs swell in evenings and during the night. In the daytime the swelling is gone. Should I wear compression socks overnight?
Compression Stockings - 2 months ago4 answers
I had a radical prostatectomy 6 months ago and a number of lymph nodes were removed as part of this. In the last 3 months I have noticed the evening/nighttime swelling. Is this timing a coincidence, or is likely to be lymphoedema?

Could thigh high compression stockings make varicose veins above the knee worse?
Compression Stockings - 2 months ago1 answer
I'm a 29 year old male and had sclerotherapy last year. I have recently developed varicose veins that extend past the knee about 7 inches (I am 6 feet tall) on the other side of the leg. I find it hard to keep thigh highs from sliding down through the day despite various measures. I realize that thigh highs would provide more benefit, but while I wait to see a doctor, would wearing knee highs could actually increase the risk of the veins progressing further vs not wearing stockings?

I have redness and inflamed skin at the back of my ankle when I take off my compression stocking. It seems to be getting worse by the day. I had an Iliofemoral DVT (Aug 2015) which spread all the way down to my calf whilst pregnant. I was on wayfarin and had stenting done (Feb2017) to fix my PTS symptoms. What is the redness and burning sensation from and how can I get rid of it? My surgeon thinks it's from wearing my stocking, but I am worried that it is the beginning of ulcers forming.
