What are the risks of having sclerotherapy performed on my internal iliac veins?

I had an ovarian vein embolization done in July of 2015. Unfortunately, the problem has returned and I again have hip/leg pain. What are the risks of having sclerotherapy performed on my internal iliac veins? Also, how do I find a doctor that is around my area and proficient in this? The ones I have talked to for a 2nd consult don't do very many of them and I am very nervous of saying yes in light of this. Thank you for any help.

Find someone who has extensive experience and skill. I think coils are still an important method that can be combined with sclerotherapy.

If you are predominantly having leg symptoms caused by pelvic varicose veins, you shoud consider being evaluated by a vein specialist who can target treatment to the leg veins that are causing symptoms rather than closing the internal iliac veins.

Coil embolization is done for ovarian veins.

There are 1-2 doctors in the U.S. that repair valves in the iliac veins. I personally would not sign up for one of these procedures if I had the problem myself as they are fraught to fail.

I would be very careful about having sclerotherapy on internal iliac veins. These veins receive drainage from many pelvic veins and drain into common iliac veins. The ovarian veins do not drain into the internal iliac veins. I have never seen anyone do sclerotherapy on internal iliac veins.
