Following endovenous laser ablation, the treated veins constricts over time. Usually, by 1 to 2 weeks post-procedure, many patients will feel hardness over the treated vein and over any veins treated by sclerotherapy or micropohlebectomies. This is due to trapped blood within the veins. Wet heat to the areas, ibuprofen and sometimes evacuation of the trapped blood will all help.

That lump you are feeling quite possibly be either the vein that was treated, or a varicose vein coming off that vein.

When you have an EVLT, it is basically cauterizing the vein shut leaving nowhere for the blood to go. So it ends up clotting up (supposed to happen), and then it just takes time for it to be reabsorbed back into the body. Call your doctor that treated you and ask what you should do to alleviate the pain, every doctor has different methods.

That lump is likely a closed vein that can still be tender for a couple months. If you are concerned, I recommend discussing them with your surgeon.

Try taking an NSAID like Motrin or Alleve. No, it is not abnormal to have pulling or discomfort for a while after the procedure. There can be bumps or lumps if the veins were very superficial, or if there were varices that thrombosed from the procedure. We tell people if this is bothersome to use warm packs on the area and massage them if it is more than a few weeks out.
